Q: What can you hunt with WU?
A: WU ranches hunt for deer, pig, waterfowl, turkey, and other upland game birds, bears, and varmints. Fishing opportunities include trout, steelhead, and bass.
Q: How do you keep the public off of WU property?
A: Every WU property is clearly posted along the boundaries. Onsite patrolmen make sure everyone completes the check-in and out process and verifies member credentials.
Q: Will my family be members as well?
A: Yes! Wilderness Unlimited is Family oriented, and membership includes spouses and dependent children.
Q: Does WU control the number of hunters on one ranch?
A: Yes, reservations are required to access a property. The WU Lands Department determines the maximum number of hunters or persons on each ranch as well as any additional restrictions or harvest limits. While this does improve the hunt quality now, it also ensures the property will be huntable for years to come.
Q: Is archery hunting supported?
A: Yes! WU has archery only ranches and archery only seasons beyond state regulations.
Q: What vehicles are allowed on WU Properties? Can I use my ATV?
A: Only registered, highway-legal vehicles are allowed on WU properties, excluding any 2 or 3-wheeled motorbikes. ATV, UTV, or any similar style vehicles are not allowed. RVs and large trailers are allowed but not accessible on every ranch.
Q: Can anyone join Wilderness Unlimited?
A: Anyone can apply to become a member of Wilderness Unlimited, but an application does not mean you will be accepted as a member. The application process includes a personal interview with a current member to ensure you are a good fit for WU.
Q: How long is the application process?
A: The application process can vary by applicant, but it typically takes 10 days to complete the acceptance process. When applying, there is a one-time enrollment fee that can be included in your payment plan. If you are found to not be a good fit for WU, you will receive a full refund of any deposits made.
Q: Do I have to pay for my membership all at once?
A: Payment plans are available, including automatic payments.
Q: Does WU offer any uncommon hunts?
A: Yes! WU has access for some unique hunts including Elk in California.
Q: What is the process to become a member?
A: Members represent WU and other members while out on ranches so the first step in the application process is an interview with a current member. Once you get a chance to go over the rules and discuss the membership options the interviewer will submit an application on your behalf for membership. During the next couple of days your application is reviewed and you may be contacted by WU staff. Once approved your welcome kit will go out into the mail and you can start using your membership!
